Cherie Gil on “don’t call me tita” statement: “Excuse me, kailan ba kita naging pamangkin?”

Actress Cherie Gil earlier drew attention online over her post about actors’ etiquette, airing her sentiments about those whom she does not even know but call her ‘tita’.

Such post went viral after being shared by singer and Broadway actress Lea Salonga and even became her ending spiel for the teaser of the upcoming season of “StarStruck” where she is one of the council.

In her interview with Pep and other members of the press during the presscon of the talent show, Cherie explained her “don’t call me tita” statement.

She said: “It became a social issue. Yun pala, marami na ang nag-a-identify sa akin na mga women my age, who actually find it awkward to be called tita just because it’s meant that you’re older.”
