Mayor Isko Moreno to UE on disobeying class suspension: “You are not welcome to the city of Manila”

Manila Mayor Isko Moreno called out the University of the East (UE) following his order to suspend classes on all levels for the afternoon session on Monday, July 1, as the institution initially suspended classes only for the grade school and high school levels.

In a Facebook live video, the Mayor, on his first day at the office, addressed the issue with UE Manila and warned the officials of the university to comply with future orders for class suspension.

Mayor Isko said: “Ayoko na pong mauulit iyan. Kung hindi rin kayo susunod, kayong mga eskuwelahan sa mga tagubilin ng pamahalaang lungsod ng Maynila ayon sa pagsasaayos, ayon sa pangangalaga ng kaligtasan, you are not welcome to the city of Manila, magsara na po kayo, shut down your institution.”

On UE’s Facebook page, the university first suspended classes for Kinder to Grade 12 students. It later suspended classes on all levels at 1p.m.
