Netizens not happy with Alex Gonzaga’s IG caption: “Japan, Japan sagot sa kahirapan!”

Actress Alex Gonzaga and Mommy Pinty went to Tokyo and Osaka in Japan for a vacation. On her vlog, Alex documented their trip and shared her adventure with Mommy Pinty – from wearing kimonos, eating ramen, and many other things.

On Instagram, Alex also posted a photo of her and Mommy Pinty with the following caption:

#LinkinmyBio to see our Japan adevntures and mommy Pinty’s beast mode sa kimono ?”

On the comment section, some netizens find the caption offensive while some said its perfectly harmless:

– “I guess you need to rephrase your words here, I don’t get this joke. You have many kababayan here too, I guess it’s a good idea you feature life of Filipinos here so you have a bit of emphatic side.”

– “There are ACTUAL funny jokes and jokes made up from total ignorance. Can Mommy Pinty teach her daughter not to be so taklesa and act appropriately?

– ” i think she didn’t mention any bad thing about working japan. Just chill girl..i saw the video and it was funny..”

– “I don’t see anything wrong here , filipino are just so idea builders kaya andami nilang thoughts about this”

In reaction to the numerous posts, Alex posted a comment saying: “sorry if thats how you feel but i’ve been hearing that phrase ever since i was young. Most of the time, filipinos move overseas to have better opportunities. It’s how you interpret that phrase and the joke is kunwari we’re moving to Japan na with mommy pinty. Hehe”
