Asia’s songbird Regine Velasquez defended her fellow judges in the Kapamilya singing competition “Idol Philippines” as television viewers and netizens have been giving mixed reactions on Vice Ganda, Moira Dela Torre, and James Reid’s own ways of choosing the contestants.
In her interview with Pep, Regine explained that her fellow judges were chosen for a reason and that they have their own “specialty”.

She said: “You know, they were chosen for a particular reason. Mayroon kaming kanya-kanyang specialty, kumbaga.”
“Ako, obviously, sa technical ako. A lot of times they don’t even question what I say. Kanya-kanya kami ng trabaho and they were chosen because mayroon silang expertise,” Regine added.
Regine then clarified that she wants to be honest as much as possible when judging the contestants.
“You know, when I took to be a judge of Idol Philippines, I want to be honest, hindi para mang-hurt ng feelings or sirain ang dreams nila. I want them to be better kaya kailangan kong maging honest. Di ko kailangang sabihin na okay lang, pero hindi naman,” Regine said.
