The earnings of the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) was severely affected by the operation shutdown of ABS-CBN. The Kapamilya network failed to secure a renewal of its franchise from Congress resulting to the shutdown of its operations.
In a tweet by ABS-CBN Digital Journalist Kat Domingo, MTRCB’s earning from 2019 was PhP 22.74 million compared to this year’s PhP 7.40 million, a big drop of around PhP 15 million.
“MTRCB earned P22.74 million in review fees from ABS-CBN in 2019, but only got P7.40 million this year after the Philippines’ largest broadcaster was denied of a Congressional franchise in May.”
