ADMU releases statement over bullying video involving its students

Ateneo De Manila University (ADMU) president Jose Ramon T. Villarin, SJ has released a statement regarding the viral bullying video which involves students from ADMU Junior High School.

In the statement posted on Ateneo’s Facebook page, Villarin assured everyone concerned that the university is taking necessary actions on the issue with “the highest priority and urgency”.

He said: “As we go through this process and move towards a disciplinary decision, I request you to be mindful of consequences spiraling out of control when specific videos and comments are shared on social media. Again, I assure you we are treating the matter with the highest priority and urgency.”

Villarin also stated that the university is not condoning such behavior and that it will not hesitate to dismiss or expel anyone guilty of grave misconduct.

“The school is not silent on its stand on violence and it will not hesitate to impose the penalty of dismissal or even expulsion in cases of grave misconduct,” he added
