The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) has extended the deadline for the filing of income tax returns to May 15 in response to the request of lawmakers and businessmen. The initial deadline of April 15 is no longer feasible given the month long lockdown of Luzon due to the COVID-19 virus.
BIR Commissioner Caesar Dulay issued Revenue Memorandum Circular No. 28 informing the public about the extended deadline by one month without penalties to taxpayers.
