President-elect Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. appointed former Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile as presidential legal counsel said incoming press secretary Trixie Angeles.
“Among the new nominees is former Philippine Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile, who will re-enter public service as Presidential Legal Counsel-designate six years after announcing his retirement from politics in 2016,” Angeles announced in a statement.
Enrile served as the defense secretary of the late strongman Ferdinand Marcos Sr and was the administrator of martial law. He has held different positions under the presidency of the late Noynoy Aquino, former Presidents Gloria Arroyo, Joseph Estrada, Fidel Ramos, Cory Aquino and Ferdinand Marcos Sr.
“”I will devote my time and knowledge for the republic and for BBM because I want him to succeed,” said Enrile as quoted by Angeles.
