Kapamilya star Coco Martin, even before making a name in the mainstream media, has been doing several indie movies that have been shown locally and internationally.
One of his notable indie films is the 2009 movie “Kinatay” directed by Brillante Mendoza which has been recognized in the prestigious Cannes Film Festival.

Even bestselling author Paulo Coelho who is best known for his novel “The Alchemist” is all praises to the movie, its actors, and director in a post he shared on his Twitter account.
Coco re-posted Paulo’s tweet on his Instagram account where the author wrote: “One of the most disturbing movies I watched in 2018 – great screenplay, director, actors. A Filipino movie that, if it was directed by Tarantino, would be shortlisted for the Oscar.”
