The Department of Health confirmed that they have removed the misting tents at the Philippine General Hospital. The said misting tents were donated by actress Angel Locsin. In a statement, Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire clarified the move.
According to Usec Vergeire, PGH administration removed the misting tents following a directive from the DOH. DoH said misting is not that effective in fighting the coronavirus (COVID-19) and can even harm people. Vergerie added that they are not prohibiting spraying tents inside hospitals where health workers are passing through for as long as they are wearing the proper personal protective equipment (PPEs).
“Gusto rin po nating linawin na itong mga misting tents sa PGH ay ibinigay po through a donation ni Miss Angel Locsin, at siya po ay sumusunod sa mga pamantayan at protocol ng Department of Health kapag dating sa mga dino-donate niyang produkto, o mga equipment or supplies,” said Vergeire.
