The Department of Health reminded again TV hosts to always wear face mask and not just face shields doing their shows. Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire was asked if wearing a face mask is necessary even if someone is already wearing face shields.
“Ang pinakaimportante na personal protective equipment would be your mask, because it really covers your nose and your mouth kung saan tayo pwedeng mahawa nung virus na yan.
Kaya po siya tinawag na medical mask, ginawa siya specific to that purpose that it can filter out these organisms that you may be able to get when you are inside a healthcare setting.” said Vergeire.
The absence of face mask can be seen on the program hosts of noontime shows like “It’s Showtime”, “Eat Bulaga” and “Lunch Out Loud.”
“Kapag ginamit niyo po yung mask at tsaka yung face shield, it gives you 93% protection. Kapag kayo po ay naka-mask with physical distancing, it gives you 94% protection. Kapag kayo ay naka-mask, naka-face shield at meron kayong distancing, it gives you 99% protection.” added Vergeire.
