“Dolomite” trends online amid Typhoon Ulysses

Netizens reacted to a post made by ABS-CBN News showing the condition of Manila Bay in the light of Typhoon Ulysses. Due to the typhoon, garbage were all over the area where the dolomites were placed. It can be recalled that the Philippine government spent PhP 390 million for the beautification of Manila Bay.

Netizens expressed their opinions on Twitter and here are some of them:

– “asan na yung dolomite Smiling face with smiling eyes the money you wasted there could’ve been allocated to disaster risk reduction and urban planning.”

– “the dolomite project is a waste. if our government do not want to admit this and try to listen, efforts will be useless.”

– “its so infuriating how the g0vt chooses to allocate a hefty amount of OUR money on unsolicited white elephants like the dolomite sand. they blatantly disregarded how potentially harmful the typhoon is and now they can provide little to no aid considering how unprepared they are”

– “They know that the Philippines is prone to typhoons? And yet they wasted 390M for freaking dolomite? When they can add it to calamities funds”

– “I hope that, after a number of typhoons that have passed and hit Manila recently, the government would focus its resources on projects that actually mitigate the effects of typhoons and improve rescue services rather than put money in lame projects like dolomite”
