On Instagram, Anne posted the following:

“Hi. It took me a while to speak up. I was focused on what mattered most, being reunited with my family, who were stranded in the Middle East and getting home safely.

Rep. Bong Suntay under fire for “inappropriate” Anne Curtis remarks

“I am home now, and now I’m ready to say what needs to be said. Not for revenge or drama, but because remaining silent would be wrong for me, and for every woman watching.

A vulgar, sexualized analogy. My name disgustingly used without my consent, in the wrong context, and more importantly, without an ounce of respect. My initial reaction was one of shock. I was hurt, disturbed by how perverted it was, and angry.

What happened to me isn’t rare. It happens to women every day in offices, in group chats, in rooms where men think no one is listening, or worse, in rooms where they know everyone is and simply don’t care.

Mr. Suntay, I won’t spend much time on you. Not because what you did was small, but because this was never really about you. Since you used me as an example, let me use you as one too. You’ve become the poster boy of something much bigger: a culture that still thinks it’s acceptable to talk about women this way. Worse, one that tolerates it from our leaders.

As they say, misogyny dressed up as a joke is still misogyny. You hold a seat paid for by taxpayers. Women are taxpayers. I am a taxpayer. We are not props in your commentary.

I do not accept your non-apology. But I also will not carry this as a personal wound.

I do, however, accept your wife’s apology. Because as a wife and a mother myself, I know exactly what she must be feeling — that particular kind of embarrassment, that helplessness, that quiet grief of watching someone choose so poorly in public.

To her, and to your children: this is not your shame. Please know that. And I hope everyone reading this extends them the same grace.

To the ethics committee: I hope you do not let this pass. The integrity of public office depends on the standards it upholds.

I will be seeking legal advice and will consider all my options looking forward.”

For International Women’s Day, the “General’s Daughter” stepped out of her private hiatus to deliver a message that reminded the public why she remains the country’s definitive “Darna” with or without the costume.

Angel, who has largely stepped away from the limelight to focus on her personal life and well-being, used the occasion not for self-promotion, but to amplify the voices of the everyday heroines she has spent years championing.

On Facebook, Angel posted an illustration of three confident women standing before a city skyline with the Philippine flag with the following caption:

“Happy Women’s Day to all the amazing women out there! Let’s manifest today: love, respect, and kindness for all women.”

Her message served as a gentle reminder that being a “strong woman” doesn’t mean you have to be loud all the time. Sometimes, the strongest thing a woman can do is set boundaries, protect her peace, and speak up only when it truly matters.

After her performance, Rufa decided to talk about the reason why she and singer judge Erik Santos broke up, to the delight of crowd icluding co-judge Sahron Cuneta and Ogie Alcasid.

“Bakit ba tayo naghiwalay? Charot! eto na lang. Bakit hindi mo ako hinabol?” asked Rufa.

“Dahil si Jun Lalin, nag-text. Nag-text kasi siya… sabi niya sa akin… o na-meet ko yata, tapos sabi niya, ‘Kumusta kayo ni Erik? Kayo pa ba?’ Sabi ko, ”Di na, kami na ni Mark Bautista!’ Totoo ‘yan, tapos sinulat. Tapos nagselos!” she said.

“Joke lang! Bakit ko naman dyodyowahin si Mark?!” Rufa added.

All had a great laugh. And all three judges gave Rufa a thumbs up for her stellar performance.

It wasn’t a speech about ratings or box-office success; it was a raw, tearful acknowledgment of the “real” heroes who walk the cobbled streets of Manila.

Coco emphasized that the success of the show belongs to the veteran actors who have become mentors, the stuntmen who risk their safety for every chase scene, and most importantly—the residents who treat the production team like long-lost relatives.

The core of Coco’s message was a direct address to the fans—the “Batang Quiapo” in spirit, regardless of where they live. He spoke to the street vendors, the jeepney drivers, and the families who see their own struggles reflected in Tanggol’s fight for justice.

During ASAP, Coco said:

“Tatlong taon. Gabi-gabi po sinamahan niyo kami sa inyong mga tahanan. Punong-puno ng pagmamahal at suporta po ang binigay niyo sa’min. Kahit san man po kaming istasyon mapadpad, nandiyan pa rin po kayo at hindi niyo kami binitawan.” said Coco.

Among those he thanked were ABS-CBN executives for their continued trust and support, as well as the late Deo Endrinal, whose production arm, Dreamscape Entertainment, produced the action drama. Coco also gave his sincere appreciation to Cory Vidanes and to Mr. Pure Energy Gary Valenciano.

Coco’s message serves as a reminder that television can be a powerful bridge. By honoring the “least, the last, and the lost,” he has turned a primetime drama into a cultural movement.

Coco Martin didn’t just give a message. He gave a piece of himself back to the people who made him a king.

On February 28, 2026, the beloved “MelaSon” couple—accompanied by their former Kris TV family—visited their wedding godmother (Ninang) for an intimate dinner that has since sent ripples of joy across social media.

For fans who have followed Kris Aquino’s arduous journey with multiple autoimmune diseases, the photos shared by Melai were more than just a celebrity sighting; they were a beacon of hope.

Joining Melai and Jason were longtime collaborators Darla Sauler and former executive producer Jasmin Pallera. Melai, known for her signature wit, couldn’t help but joke in her Instagram caption:

Shiela didn’t just issue a statement; she drew a line in the sand for every woman who has ever been made the punchline of a “joke” she didn’t find funny.

While many expected a standard PR cleanup after Rep. Suntay’s comments sparked nationwide outrage, Shiela’s response was refreshingly, and perhaps jarringly, honest. She was “unequivocally clear”: she and her children do not condone the remarks.

On Instagram, Sheila posted the following:

“I want to be unequivocally clear: My children & I do not agree with, and we do not condone, the analogy made by Bong. The news circulating, that I laughed and therefore approved of what was said is false, and I will not allow that narrative to stand unchallenged,”

To Anne Curtis and her family—I am deeply sorry. No woman should ever be spoken about that way, and I understand if words alone feel insufficient. Please know that my heart goes out to you, and I stand with you,” she said.

“Every woman—regardless of who she is, whose wife or daughter she may be, or whatever her background—deserves to be treated with dignity and respect. That is a value I hold deeply and will never compromise on,”

We are not public figures. My children are children. No mother should have to watch her children be targeted and harassed for something they had no part in. I humbly ask the public and the media to respect that boundary,”

We expect our stars to be shielded by velvet ropes and guarded by a phalanx of handlers.

But then there’s Tuesday Vargas.

The versatile singer, comedian, and actress recently became the talk of social media, not for a primetime drama or a viral TikTok dance, but for something far more grounded: hosting a children’s birthday party.

When photos and videos surfaced of Tuesday holding a microphone in front of a colorful backdrop of balloons and streamers, the internet didn’t just notice—it celebrated. Netizens were quick to point out the refreshing lack of “celebrity ego” on display.

On Facebook, Tuesday posted a video of her hosting stint with the following caption:

“First time kong ma hire sa 1st birthday and sa Jollibee pa! Bida ang saya! Salamat po sa aking mababait na clients. PM lang po guys! Baka pati pag mascot pasukin ko na din, bakit? Mahirap yun at desenteng trabaho. Laban tayo always!”

In a world where some minor influencers demand “diva” treatment, Tuesday—a household name with decades of experience—was seen sweating it out under the party lights, wrangling hyperactive toddlers, and delivering punchlines to a room full of parents.

Tuesday has always been vocal about being a provider and an artist who loves her audience. By accepting a kiddie party gig, she sends a powerful message to her peers and fans alike: There is dignity in all honest work. > “She’s a reminder that being a ‘star’ doesn’t mean you’re too big to bring joy to a small room.”

Bong Suntay said actress Anne Curtis “should take it as a compliment” after facing criticism over remarks he made during a House hearing on impeachment complaints against Vice President Sara Duterte.

During the hearing, Rep. Suntay said the following:

“Minsan nasa Shangri-La ako, nakita ko si Anne Curtis. Ang ganda-ganda pala niya. You know, may desire sa loob ko na nag-init talaga. Na-imagine ko na lang kung anong pwedeng mangyari, pero siyempre hanggang imagination lang ‘yon,” the lawmaker said. “Hindi naman siguro ako pwedeng kasuhan dahil kung ano na-imagine ko eh.”

Karen Davila to Suntay: “Please keep your sick thoughts to yourself”

Rep. Bong Suntay under fire for “inappropriate” Anne Curtis remarks

=====

In an interview with One News’ “Storycon” on Tuesday, March 3, Suntay said his statement was merely an “analogy” and “not even a real situation,” stressing that there was “nothing immoral” or “punishable” in what he said.

He maintained that his comments were intended to illustrate that a person cannot be held liable for mere thoughts or imagination.

When asked if he owes Anne an apology, Rep. Suntay said:

“Sinabi ko ang ganda-ganda niya. And I think she should take it as a compliment that I feel and I believe that she’s very beautiful.”

In an interview with Alvin Elchico on DZMM, Rep Sunday said the following:

“For those who found the statement offensive, then ako ay humihingi ng pasensya sa kanila,” he said. “But that was not the intention. My intention was to drive a point.”

I stand by the statement that I made, that analogy that I made. But if some people were offended, lalo na Women’s Month, I’m sorry for those who were offended. But if you read the context talaga, there was nothing malicious in it. Depende kung nilagyan ng malice nung nagbasa.”

He recounted a moment at a mall where he saw actress Anne Curtis. “May desire sa loob ko na nag-init talaga,” Suntay said. “Na-imagine ko na lang kung ano ang pwedeng mangyari… Hindi naman siguro ako pwedeng kasuhan dahil kung anu-ano ‘yung na-imagine ko.”

The backlash was swift, but few responses were as piercing and principled as that of veteran broadcast journalist Karen Davila.

Rep. Bong Suntay under fire for “inappropriate” Anne Curtis remarks

=====

Taking to social media and her platform on TV Patrol, Davila didn’t just call for the remarks to be stricken from the record—she called for a fundamental shift in culture. Her words were a stinging rebuke to the lawmaker:

“A congressman. A representative of the people. Paid by the people. A husband, a father with daughters.

Without the consciousness, knowledge or decency of how women should be talked about. Please keep your sick thoughts to yourself.

More than striking his comments off the record, he should apologize.

Women’s Month pa talaga”

Karen’s response cut through this noise. By labeling these as “sick thoughts,” she stripped away the veneer of the “harmless joke.” She reminded the public that a public official’s imagination is not public property, nor is it a legislative tool.

Karen’s stand is a reminder that dignity is not negotiable. When we tell public officials to keep their “sick thoughts” to themselves, we aren’t just defending one actress; we are defending the right of every woman to walk into a room—or a mall—without being “imagined” into a scenario she never asked for.

Bong Suntay under fire for “inappropriate” Anne Curtis remarks]]> https://showbizchika.net/?p=146000 2026-03-03T13:30:33Z 2026-03-03T13:30:33Z In a move that has sparked widespread backlash from both lawmakers and the public, Quezon City 4th District Representative Bong Suntay is facing heavy criticism for comments made during a House Committee on Justice hearing on Tuesday, March 3, 2026.

What was intended to be a legal defense of Vice President Sara Duterte quickly spiraled into a controversy regarding decorum and gender sensitivity, as Suntay used actress and “It’s Showtime” host Anne Curtis as a hypothetical example in a lewd anecdote.

The remarks occurred during deliberations on the impeachment complaints against Vice President Duterte. Suntay was attempting to argue that “mere utterances” or “thoughts” do not constitute criminal acts or sedition—referencing the VP’s past controversial “designated survivor” and “kill” remarks as harmless hyperbole.

To illustrate his point, Suntay shared a personal anecdote that stunned those in attendance:

“Minsan nasa Shangri-La ako, nakita ko si Anne Curtis. Ang ganda-ganda pala niya. You know, may desire sa loob ko na nag-init talaga. Na-imagine ko na lang kung anong pwedeng mangyari, pero siyempre hanggang imagination lang ‘yon,” Suntay stated. “Hindi naman siguro ako pwedeng kasuhan dahil kung ano na-imagine ko eh.”

This prompted House justice panel chairperson Belle Zamora of San Juan to move to strike Suntay’s comments off the record.

Suntay defended his statement by saying:

“There is nothing sexual doon sa sinabi ko, nothing immoral. It’s just, I said, may na-imagine ako, I think there is nothing wrong. I think we are starting a dangerous precedent because we are censuring manifestations which are neither illegal nor immoral.”
