Miss International Queen 2012 Kevin Balot is trending online over her statement on transgenders joining ‘traditional’ pageants. Way back 2018, Miss Spain Angela Ponce made history for being the first ever transgender woman who joined the Miss Universe pageant.
In an online live interview, Kevin was joined by her fellow beauty queens Mutya ng Pilipinas Intercontinental 2010 Carla Lizardo, Binibining Pilipinas International 2014 Bianca Guidotti, and Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach. She was asked by Carla about her thoughts on trans woman joining “traditional” pageants like Miss Universe.

Kevin answered “We trans women always asked for equality and us transgender women joining sa mga Miss Universe is not equality anymore eh. So hindi lang ako ano, hindi lang ako sang ayon sa mga ganoong bagay kasi we have our own pageant eh. We have the Miss International Queen pageant which is the most prestigious transgender beauty pageant. So if us joining sa mga pageant ng mga babae, hindi na siya equality eh parang you’re asking too much na.”
Many supporters of the Miss International Queen 2012 was disappointed by her honest answer.
Did kevin balot really said that??? As someone who openly represent the transwoman, I’m badly disappointed with her views. Never naging sobra ang paghihinge ng equality, miss maam. Never!! Sa totoo nga, kulang pa at laging dehado. Nakakalungot 🙁 pic.twitter.com/BYsGGnOBVp
