Broadway star Lea Salonga expressed her honest thoughts and sentiments over posting news about the passing of a person on social media.
In a series of posts on Facebook, Lea expressed her disappointment over the said matter. It appeared her posts came after the news about the passing of photographer Raymund Isaac has surfaced on social media.
“Going to stay off social media for the rest of the night. Seeing news that’s making me angry. It’s also making me question my friendships.” Lea wrote in one of her Facebook posts.
In a separate post, Lea sent a reminder to the public.
“This is my official stance when news on someone’s passing starts going around (it’s happened enough times even pre-COVID, so let this be a reminder for the future):
Until we get actual confirmation, we say nothing. And until the family makes the announcement, we don’t preempt. And whoever does preempt is an asshole. So don’t be an asshole.” Lea wrote.
Just recently, photographer Raymund Isaac, a good friend of Lea passed away. Actress Noemi ‘Mahal’ Tesorero also passed away at the age of 46.
