Advanced Media Broadcasting System (AMBS), a company owned by Filipino billionaire Manny Villar has taken over broadcast frequencies formerly held by ABS-CBN Corp.
It can be recalled that the application of ABS-CBN to renew its broadcast franchise was rejected by a congressional committee in 2020.
AMBS will operate from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. at Villar’s Starmall in Mandaluyong City, and that the permit shall be used only for test broadcast purposes.
In a tweet by Aika Rey for Rappler, ABMS has been given a provisional authority to operate Channel 16, and Channel 2.
“JUST IN: The National Telecommunications Commission confirms that Villar’s Advanced Media Broadcasting System has been given a provisional authority to operate Channel 16, and Channel 2 (temporarily until 2023)”
