Actress Marjorie Barretto revealed that it was the decision of her daughter Claudia Barretto to walk down the aisle alone. Even she was not supposed to walk with Claudia during her wedding.
Marjorie made the revelation during her interview with Ogie Diaz. Marjorie added that she was just supposed to put up or down the veil of Claudie during the march, and she didn’t even handed over the hands of Claudia to her husband Basti Lorenzo – she just went straight to her seat.
Claudia and her siblings Julia and Leon had a lunch meeting with Dennis last March 18 (before the wedding. Marjorie said that the March 18 lunch with Dennis and her children was for Claudia to inform Dennis of two conditions: that she will walk herself down the aisle alone and not to divulge any information about the wedding – to keep the ceremony private, to which Dennis agreed.
“I hope my daughter is not judged here. Ano bang ibig sabihin ng ‘walking the bride down the aisle?’ It’s a father who raised you, provided for you, nurtured you, protected you, was your safe space. You’re handing over your daughter now, after raising her, to the man who’s going to be in charge of her. So, why would he hand over Claudia? She doesn’t even know anything about him. He doesn’t even know anything about her,” Marjorie added.
“Itong ginawa mo Dennis sobrang betrayal. Pag-expose mo ng wedding. Ang pangit ng ginawa mo. Hindi mo na maibabalik. Ilang Father’s Day na na-ruined mo. Birthdays ng mga bata. Lahat ng okasyon which you ruined for the children. Next year may Father’s Day uli eh. Next year may birthday pa. Pero wedding wala na eh. No more. It’s once in a lifetime,” Marjorie said.
