Manila Mayor Isko Moreno signed Executive Order No. 38 ordering the temporary closure of private and public cemeteries for the year 2020. The cemeteries will be closed ffrom October 31, 2020 to November 3, 2020. It is a custom for Filipinos to visit cemeteries in memory of the lost love ones.
But due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Mayor Moreno deemed it necessary to close cemeteries to avoid further spread of the virus since cemeteries are normally packed by crowd.

“Pinirmahan po natin ngayong araw ang Executive Order No. 38 kung saan ipinag-uutos po natin ang pansamantalang pagsasara ng lahat ng pampubliko at pribadong sementeryo mula October 31 hanggang November 3.”
