Miss International 1979 Melanie Marquez revealed her struggles as a victim of domestic abuse, shedding light on the hidden hardships behind her glamorous public image.
Melanie during her interview with ‘Fast Talk With Boy Abunda’ on January 5, 2026, shared details about her relationship with her estranged husband, American businessman Randy “Adam” Lawyer. According to Melanie, what began as a marriage she hoped would flourish into a loving family life turned into years of emotional, mental, and physical distress.
I’ve been very patient,” she said. “Nung kinasal kami ni Randy, may mindset ako, ‘I want this marriage to last.’ But along the way, marami siyang… I’m verbally abused. Inuunsulto niya ako, emotionally, financially, and mentally.”
Melanie described years of emotional and physical mistreatment during her marriage, including an episode she called a “birthday abduction,” where she was forcibly confined in a rehabilitation facility.
“I was kidnapped against my will. I was judged. Nobody talked to me. I could not talk to anyone. My phone got hacked, and it was on my birthday, birthday ko mismo noong inabduct ako. Because I filed a case against Randy, ‘yung suntok niya sa’kin, nawala ako,” added Melanie.
“Nilagay ako sa mental hospital, thinking siraulo ako, when in fact I’m taking care of my two boys, I’m having construction sa binili kong lupa, bigla akong nawala. I was only invited to celebrate my birthday, but I never thought that celebration would be my trauma.” Melanie said.
