Following the viral and historic meeting between President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. (PBBM) and former Vice President Leni Robredo in Sorsogon, Singer actress Sharon Cuneta took to social media to offer a refreshing, candid perspective.
Her takeaway? “Walang balimbingan o plastikan” (No flipping sides or faking it).
The meeting, which occurred during the inauguration of the Sorsogon Sports Arena, saw the two former presidential rivals shaking hands and sharing a brief, cordial exchange. While the internet exploded with theories of new alliances, Sharon, a staunch supporter of Robredo during the 2022 elections, saw something much simpler and more profound.
In her Facebook post, the Megastar lauded the encounter as a masterclass in delicadeza and professionalism. She emphasized that showing respect to a sitting president and a president showing respect to a former rival does not mean one has abandoned their principles.
“My President Mam Leni @atty.lenirobredo with OUR President, Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. Walang balimbingan o plastikan.
Let the President do his job. God bless the Philippines.”
For Sharon, the handshake wasn’t a sign of surrender or a shift in loyalty. It was a sign of hope that despite differing colors, leaders can still stand on the same stage for the sake of the nation.
