Toni Gonzaga and Mariel Rodriguez: “We are the prize. We are the trophy”

TV hosts and good friends Bianca Gonzalez, Toni Gonzaga, and Mariel Padilla opened up about relationships, self-respect, and the importance of recognizing one’s own worth.

The candid discussion was featured on Bianca Gonzalez’s popular podcast, where she invited longtime friends and fellow media personalities Toni and Mariel to reflect on love, life lessons, and what they wish they could tell their younger selves about relationships.

At the heart of the conversation was a message that stopped listeners in their tracks: “Tayo ang hinahabol. We are the prize. We are the trophy.” Toni emphasized that women should never feel pressured to chase after love or prove their value through endless sacrifices or emotional turmoil. “Love should be given freely, not earned through pain,” she said, underscoring that self-worth isn’t something to be negotiated or begged for.

“Tayo ang hinahabol. We are the prize. We are the trophy. Yong ‘you have to earn the love,’ hindi mo kailangang i-earn ang love.” said Toni.

Mariel echoed this sentiment, sharing how she tries to instill this belief in her own daughter. She spoke passionately about teaching young girls from an early age that their value doesn’t come from winning someone’s approval, but from how they respect and carry themselves. “Girls never chase after boys,” she explained.
