Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto gave his side of the story as to why he made his Facebook post in raising awareness in as far as the problem of corruption in media and government.
In his interview with Marc Gamboa for Models of Manila podcast, Mayor Vico clarified his purpose and intention for the post he made:
“Kung ano ang kailangan kong sabihin tungkol sa media o sa ilang personalidad, nasabi ko na. Hindi naman ako gumagawa ng isyu para magpasikat.
But I believe there are things that we need to talk about. Not only for media, but same for us in government.
Ang point ko lang dito, kung gusto natin umayos ang Pilipinas, kahit hindi siya komportable, kahit minsan parang awkward o nakakahiyang pag-usapan kailangan aminin natin ‘yung problema.
Pag-usapan natin. At the very least. kailangang magsimula tayo sa ganu’n. Tapos next na ‘yung accountability.
Agree ka sa akin o hindi, at least mapag-usapan. Panalo na yun. That’s a big win already. Ang dami ko nang nakausap both in politics, in media, and even other fields na gigil na gigil din sila pero natatakot o nahihiya silang magsalita.”
