Netizens expressed mixed reactions after presidential aspirant BongBong Marcos declined an invitation made by GMA-7 to be part of it’s Presidential Interviews to be hosted by multi-awarded journalist Jessica Soho.
Vice President Leni Robredo, Sen. Panfilo Lacson, Sen. Manny Pacquiao, and Manila Mayor Isko Moreno accepted the invitation and answered the questions prepared by Ms. Soho.
There are netizens who are expressing support to the decision of Marcos for not showing up. But majority are questioning his absence. The “#MarcosDuwag” even trended on Twitter reaching more than 55,000 tweets.
Here are some of the comments:
“I fear that Marcos Jr is trying to destroy one of the pillars of democracy by not acknowledging mainstream media for the Presidential Interview by Jessica Soho. Its a prelude to an authoritarian govt which removes media as a check and balance. This is a big red flag. #MarcosDuwag”
“no show on tomorrow’s one-on-one interview because it’s THE JESSICA SOHO AGAIN I say #MarcosDuwag”
“I can’t believe i’m saying this but Duterte was right. He is really is a WEAK LEADER!!! Nauseated faceFace vomiting
#MarcosDuwag”
“If Marcos Jr. can’t handle the heat of an interview, how can we expect him to handle the responsibilities of being a president? #MarcosDuwag”
“Attendance, punctuality, and availability, are marks of a true leader. #MarcosDuwag”
