Direk Erik Matti reacted to tweet made by a netizen saying that he is not in favor of Liza Soberano playing the role of ‘Darna.’ Liza withdrew from the said project due to an injury she sustained in doing another project.
Direk Matti also withdrew from the project ahead of Liza. On Twitter, the netizen posted the follwing:
“Liza Soberano was simply not what Erik Matti’s vision of what Darna is, that is his creative prerogative & perspective as a director. That is the reason why he pulled out of the project. It has nothing to do with her talent.He pulled out first then LS did, bc of injury. No issue.”

Direk Erik responded by tweeting the following:
“Mahirap magpaliwanag sa mga taong di marunong magbasa at makaintindi. Tatagalugin ko na. Pag-alis ni Liza na first choice ko, si Nadine lang ang nakikita kong puwedeng pumalit as Darna. Pero ako lang yan. Depende pa rin yan sa AbsCbn at sa director ng Darna.”
