At the private wedding reception of Zanjoe Marudo and Ria Atayde — an invite-only event that took place on December 23 and was kept intentionally phone-free. Guests were asked to deposit their cellphones in pouches to ensure privacy and uninterrupted fun. The couple wanted relaxed vibes, no Instagram clips, and a night to truly enjoy with friends.
Actor John Lloyd Cruz, was one of those who were invited, and TV host Robi Domingo was also there to celebrate with the couple.
Robi, who was also one of the event hosts, got the crowd laughing early in the evening with light-hearted questions like “How does it feel to be Mrs. Marudo?” to the bride and then “Mr. Atayde?” to Zanjoe playful banter that had friends and family chuckling.
But according to showbiz insider Ogie Diaz, the mood shifted soon afterward. As Robi made his way toward the bar, John Lloyd allegedly approached the host with a serious expression and raised voice, confronting him over the choice of words especially the part about calling Zanjoe “Mr. Atayde.”
Eyewitness accounts shared that John Lloyd was clearly agitated, questioning if Robi’s remark was “appropriate” and prompting Robi to ask back, “May isyu ba tayo?”. The tension reportedly drew the attention of other guests as the actor seemed to move closer, suggesting he might have been ready for more than just words.
Despite the buzz and social media chatter speculating about raised voices and “almost blows” — no physical fight actually occurred, and no official statement has been released by either John Lloyd Cruz or Robi Domingo acknowledging the incident.
