So when news broke that the Queen of All Media, Kris Aquino, was stepping back in front of the cameras as Netflix’s “Chief Head of Insight and Kontent Analysis” (or C.H.I.K.A.), fans collectively held their breath. It felt like a triumph—a bright spot after years of heartbreaking updates about her health.
But behind the polished screens and the clever promotional clips lies a narrative of grit, quiet suffering, and an unyielding passion for her craft.
Showbiz creator and close friend Loi Villarama, popularly known as Mama Loi, recently pulled back the curtain on what actually happened during that milestone shoot. And the reality check is both inspiring and deeply humbling.
On Instagram, Mama Loi posted the following:
“I NEVER LOST FAITH THAT THIS DAY WILL COME…when The Queen, Ms. @krisaquino , will face the cameras again and do what she does best.
During the shoot, I saw how hard it was for her because yung rheumatoid arthritis talagang namamaga yung legs and pati yung buto. I felt yung pag usli nung mismong buto on her knees na namamaga. Earlier during the shoot it was okay, pero ganun pala talaga ang auto immune, nakakagulat pag nakaramdam ng pagod, nag re-rebelde na. But she never complained, kahit hirap at pagod she was always in high spirits, at pag nasa harap na ng camera wala ka nang mahahalata na she’s in pain. She is a true professional. At kahit may iniindang sakit, palaging “take 1” si KCA.
Her cut-off time was 12 midnight, but she finished the shoot with no complaints until 1:30 AM.

Mama Loi’s revelation leaves us with a mix of emotions. We are ecstatic to see Kris doing what she loves, doing what she was quite literally born to do. But it also serves as a gentle, anxious reminder of the heavy price she pays for it.
