Mayor Vico Sotto of Pasig is set to hand out financial assistance to public utility vehicle drivers that have been struggling to make ends meet with the community quarantine. PUV drivers are one of the most disenfranchised due to the lack of movement within the area as well as the nature of their income generation.
Mayor Vico estimates the handout to cost around 55 million pesos overall. These estimations are set to cover 5,800 jeepney drivers, 12,000 tricycle drivers, and 700 UV drivers.
