OWWA Deputy Administrator Mocha Uson went to NBI Cybercrime Division after a subpoena was issued to her in relation to a fake news complaint. Uson apologized and said that it was an honest mistake on her part for posting the photo while her real intention was really just to inform that public about the government’s actions against the COVID-19 virus.
In a Twitter post by ABS-CBN reporter Nikolo Baua, NBI Cybercrime Division Chief Vic Lorenzo said they will make a formal report on the investigation once Uson submits an affidavit. They clarified that issuing an apology for posting false news doesnt absolve criminal liability.
