“Mirap. Namatayan ka na ng ganito tapos… wala pang pwedeng makiramay sayo. Wala kang pwedeng makausap.” – Being clueless upon her husband’s death, widow Anne Salayon narrates how she suffered the aftermath of not having a chance for his husband to be tested for Covid-19.

Featured on GMA Newscast 24 Oras, Anne was just one of the pleading citizens who wished to have a chance to be tested for Covid-19. Anne who doesn’t have the chance to have her husband an autopsy or even a test to know the reason of death, had her husband an immediate cremation.

Not even getting a proper burial for her husband, Anne also cried for the discrimination she was experiencing in her neighborhood since her husband died.

Controlled by neighbors, she wasn’t allowed to go outside to buy food and cross their streets. There was a time when her grab delivery was blocked by her own neighborhood; she was even restricted to surrender the garbage they have at home. “pinilit nila isara yung papunta samin. Saka yung sa kabilang street kasi ayaw na nila magpapasok.”

“Ito ang masakit hangga’t hindi ka nakakapagbigay ng [result] negative ka, ic-condemn ka nila” a widow in pain expressed.

However, Marikina Mayor Marcelino “Marcy” Reyes Teodoro was looking forward to have the Covid-19 testing center open next week. With high hopes, the people of Marikina are praying for this proposal to move in immediate effect.
