Sen. Sotto to critics resorting to ‘personal attacks’: “They have lost the debate!”

Senate President Vicente ‘Tito’ Sotto III aired his reaction over social media to his critics who seem to be “resorting to personal attacks”.

It was after he made a statement, expressing his disapproval to the Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity or Expression (SOGIE) Equality Bill, saying that a man “will never be a woman.”

On his Twitter account, the senate president gave his message to his critics and wrote: “When people resort to personal attacks, it means they have lost the debate!”

Prior to Sen. Sotto’s twitter post, host and comedian Vice Ganda addressed him in an Instagram post and expressed his dismay over the senate president’s remark.

Part of Vice’s statement says: “Naniniwala po ako na ang mga BABAE ay BABAE di dahil sa obaryo at sa kakayahang bumukaka at umire. Sila ay BABAE dahil sila ay BABAE. At MAY HALAGA sila may matris man o wala, magbuntis man o hindi,may anak man o wala dahil sila ay ay TAO at sila ay BABAE.

“Sinubukan ninyong maliitin ang konsepto ng pagiging TRANSGENDER sa paraang tinapakan nyo rin ang dignidad ng mga tinatawag nyong TOTOONG BABAE. Paumanhin po HON. SENATE PRESIDENT Sotto. Pero i believe this statement is just not fair. There are people who pretend to be FEMINISTS to hide their being MISOGYNISTS.”
