Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto said the lockdown of Metro Manila due to COVID-19 is a “a textbook case of overreaction.” According to Sotto, it is not yet ripe for the Philippine government to implement such lockdown.
“The time is not ripe for placing entire communities, cities and provinces under lockdown. Lockdown should be the last resort,” Sotto said. “The economy will grind to a halt as the flow of goods and people from the provinces to NCR, and vice versa, will be affected,” added Sotto.
