Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte said that she will make military service for all Filipinos upon turning 18 years old mandatory if she is elected Vice President in the coming May 2022 election.
During her UniTeam’s Metro Manila Virtual Caravan, Sara cited countries like South Korea and Israel for requiring their citizens to perform military service.
“Gagamitin ko ang aking opisina (I will use my office) — Office of the Vice President — para kausapin ang ating (to talk to our) Congress and the Senate of the Philippines to make military service for all 18 years old, male and female, mandatory in our country,” said Mayor Sara according to a tweet by CNN Philippines.
