Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray expressed her honest thoughts and sentiments as she sent a reminder to all the pageant fans.
In a video live stream on Miss Universe’s YouTube channel, Catriona paid a tribute to Miss USA Cheslie Kryst who recently passed away. During the livestream, Catriona also talked about mental health as she sent a reminder to all the pageant fans.
“Unfortunately, there are two different sides of pageantry, there’s either the really positive side, the supportive side. I feel empowered, I feel confident, I feel like I have a voice, I have a platform. And then there’s the other side where I feel pressured, I’ve been the subject of bullying, shaming, I’ve been pulled down. I just think it’s a really sad thing that it’s so polarizing in that way.” Catriona said.
“So, there will always be naysayers and trolls and that is just a reality that we have to come to accept within the online platform that is pageantry… If you’re a fan of pageantry…. please know the difference and the boundary between feedback and outright bashing, derogatory terms, harsh critiques, and just unkind things are better left unsaid.” Catriona added.
