At the inaugural FAMAS Broadcast Arts Awards, It’s Showtime host Vice Ganda took home major accolades, including Best Host for Entertainment. But while expressing gratitude on stage, the Unkabogable Star inadvertently omitted one prominent name from the show’s 16-person hosting roster: Kim Chiu.
What could have been a forgotten slip-of-the-tongue quickly spiraled into a viral discourse on fandom entitlement, celebrity protectionism, and the fine line between support and toxic behavior.
Addressing the oversight on the next day’s live episode of It’s Showtime, Vice Ganda issued an immediate, lighthearted apology:
“Kim Chiu, congratulations to us! Nakalimutan ko banggitin yung pangalan mo kahapon. Pasensya na po. 16 po kasi yung host, wala akong prompter.”
Kim Chiu played along smoothly, teasing, “Sanay na ako hindi nababanggit,” to which Vice quipped, “Di nababanggit pero pinapasalamatan nang personal.”
Case closed on television, right? Not on the internet.
Despite the hosts resolving it on set, defensive pockets of the fanbase particularly online supporters felt Kim was snubbed. Accusations of favoritism and tags calling Vice “plastik” quickly flooded X (formerly Twitter).
One fan tweeted the following:
“So disappointed @vicegandako. She’s one of the reasons why we are watching @itsShowtimeNa. Really? Yung mga newly added hosts na mention then cia nakalimutan because wala kang prompter? Clearly favoritism as it’s finest!”
Vice Ganda, known for directly confronting online hostility, didn’t hold back. Calling out the outrage as “toxic” and “entitled,” the comedian tweeted:
“Grabe the kacheapan of these fans! Look prinsesachinita”

Kim quickly stepped in to defend her supporters and making it clear she wasn’t tolerating toxicity, the Chinita Princess stood up for her followers by posting the following:
“Ayaw ko na sanang palakihin ito. Pero bilang mga taga supporta hindi naman cguro ka cheapan ang tawag duon. Cguro po marahil sa sobrang pagmamahal at supporta nila sa idolo nila ay protective sila. Initial reaction po cguro ito. Hindi sa tinolerate ko sila pero sana hinayaan na natin ito. Kung wala ang mga taong sumusuporta at lubos na nagmamahal sa atin wala din tatangkilik sa lahat ng ginagawa natin.”

Fans and followers showed their concern over Vice and Kim. Vice calmed the sentiments of fans by tweeting:
“Ay di po kami magkaaway. Magkamessage po kami now. As ennn.”
