Kapuso star Dingdong Dantes expressed his honest thoughts and sentiments as he gave an advice to first time voters.
In Kapamilya star Bianca Gonzalez’s latest YouTube vlog, she featured Dingdong for an interview. During the interview, Bianca asked Dingdong, “Madami talagang first time voters. You being a parent as well anong maa-advice mo sa lahat ng first time voters specially the young ones?”
According to Dingdong, based on his observations, the upcoming elections is one of the most important elections in the generation. Dingdong also shared that the upcoming elections is about socio-economic recovery.
“It’s about the future of our children. This is about choosing yung leadership whom we think we deserve and is capable of addressing yung mga challenges of the pandemic and all the other problems.” Dingdong shared.
According to Dingdong, he has a process and his process on choosing whom to vote is similar on his process as an actor.
“Yung first step ko is to plan… When you say pa-planuhin mo yung gagawin mo, pa-planuhin mo yung proseso sa pagpili ng impormasyon sa pagpili ng, una sa source of information pa nag e, sino ba ang credible? Sino ba ang pakikinggan ko?… kailangan kunin mo yung sentiment ng pangkalahatan. You talk to people, okay makipag debate, alamin mo nasa loob nila. Pero ang pinaka importante talaga ay kung ano yung source of information kasi yun yung paniniwalaan mo. So sino ba yung may track record? Sino ba yung organizations or institutions na alam mong matagal ng pinagkakatiwalaan?” Dingdong shared.
“When you have this informations, go to the second step which is the discernment process. Ito na ngayon yung alam ko, ito na yung options ko, paano ko ngayon ia-attack ito? Pero dito, ano yung discernment process ko on whom to choose? What I do is that I have a set of values na gusto ko sa isang leader. Para saakin very very clear, gusto ko yung leader ko ay may intergridad, gusto ko competent siya, yung values niya for humanity ay talagang nasa frontline ng kanyang ipinaglalaban and inspiring leader yung gusto ko. Having said those, titingnan ko ngayon kung ano yung pangangailangan ng lipunan at ibabangga ko yun…”
“I plan, I discern and then I act, meaning you have to act on it. Literally in its sense, ie-exercise mo talaga yung right mo to vote… Para saatin, for us citizens, it is our part to execute our right to vote. And this is our part to prove that we are responsible citizens participating in this democratic process.” Dingdong added.
