Netizens criticized actor Coco Martin for wearing a leather jacket on the series “Batang Quiapo.” Some said it’s unrealistic for Coco to be wearing a jacket considering that’s its too hot in the Philippines.
The leather jacket is symbolic to the late actor Fernando Poe Jr. And since Coco is portraying the role of FPJ then, it is but normal that Coco adopts what FPJ looks like.
Talent manager Ogie Diaz defended Coco and said that the leather jacket is part of Coco’s branding.
“Branding kasi yon. Siyempre, ang ‘Batang Quiapo’ ay si FPJ. Kahit ang ‘Probinsyano’ ay si FPJ. So, siyempre ang kinakatawan ni Coco ay si FPJ,” said Ogie.
“So, kapag sinasabi nila na: ‘Ang init-init, bakit naka-jacket?’ May napansin ba kayong nagpapaypay doon? Ibig sabihin, hindi nila pinaparamdam sa audience na mainit ang paligid,” Ogie added.
