Estrella “Inday” Barretto, the family’s 89-year-old matriarch, had finally closed her eyes for the last time. Inday is the mother of Gretchen, Marjorie and Claudine Barretto.
Her son, Joaquin “JJ” Barretto, broke the news with the simplicity that deep grief often requires: a photo of a lone candle against a black void. “Rest in peace, Mom. I love you,” he wrote.
On Facebook, daughter Claudine posted a video with the following caption:
“Mommy We’re gonna be okay i promise!”
As the news of her passing ripples through the industry, from the executive suites of ABS-CBN to the fan pages of Julia Barretto, the sentiment is the same: Respect.
Inday Barretto didn’t need to be an actress to be a legend. She played the most difficult role of all, the mother of a dynasty.
