Over the years, actress Ai Ai has been open about her relationships, both the joy and the heartbreak that came with them. She has loved deeply and publicly, and she has also endured painful lessons under the same spotlight. Now, she seems to be choosing peace over pressure, and contentment over convention.
“Hindi na ako papatol sa bata. Ayoko na. May age limit na. Tapos na tapos na tapos na,” said Ai Ai.
Her statement about no longer pursuing younger partners felt less like a punchline and more like a personal truth. Ai Ai simply said out loud what others might still be processing: that at a certain point in life, you want companionship that meets you where you are, not one that asks you to adjust who you’ve become.
“Siguro mga 50. Ayoko ng mga 70, aalagaan ko pa sarili ko. Yun yung sinasabi ng mga tao, baka swak ako sa afam. Ang dating naman sa’kin… Pilipino nga hindi kami magkaintindihan. Mahirap kasing mag-converse pagdating sa emosyon.” Ai Ai added.
Equally striking was her firm stance on marriage. In a culture where being married is often treated as a finish line, Ai Ai’s declaration stands as a gentle rebellion.
“Never na ako magpapakasal. Kagaya ng ayoko sa bata, ayoko nang magpakasal.” Ai Ai said.
Ai Ai appears focused on herself: her work, her faith, her growth, and her peace of mind. Love, if it comes, will no longer be something she chases or compromises herself for. And if it doesn’t? That seems perfectly fine too.
