For nearly two years, the end of Sam Milby and Catriona Gray’s engagement remained shrouded in the kind of respectful mystery that only two seasoned professionals could maintain.
That silence was finally broken this February 2026. In a sit-down interview with broadcaster Karen Davila, Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray opened up about the “shattering” end of their four-year romance, revealing for the first time that the split was triggered by Sam’s sudden realization that he wasn’t ready for the commitment of marriage, even after the proposal.
In an exclusively interview with ABS-CBN News for his upcoming series The Alibi, Sam Milby didn’t shy away from the elephant in the room. When asked about his ex-fiancée’s candid interview, his response was a mix of classic Milby-candor and a firm boundary.
“Was I surprised? Yes, I was surprised,” Sam admitted.
“My reaction is just I want to keep what’s between me and Cat private. I just don’t want to comment. That’s it,” he added, choosing to protect the remnants of their shared history rather than litigate it in the press.
