Senator Robin Padilla is being suggested as a possible running mate for VP Sara Duterte in the upcoming 2028 elections. Sen. Padilla placed first in the senatorial race during the previous election.
Vice President Sara Duterte made her official declaration of her 2028 presidential bid this week, the spotlight has shifted to who will fill her “Number 2” slot.
In the 2022 elections, he made history by garnering over 26.6 million votes, securing the number one spot and proving his massive appeal across various demographics.
When asked if he is ready for a higher position, Sen. Padilla said:
“ayyy pinanganak tayong ready. Lalo na yan para sa akin vice president, hindi naman masyadong… ano yan puro advocacy lang yan.
Parang ikaw lang ang spare tire. Kayang kaya yan.”
Whether the “Sara-Robin” tandem becomes official remains to be seen, but one thing is clear: the “Number One Senator” is no longer just a spectator in the race for the country’s second-highest office.
