Odette Khan hospitalized; family appeals for financial help

For over five decades, Odette Khan has been a constant presence in the lives of Filipino families. Whether she was playing the formidable matriarch we loved to hate or the sharp-tongued kontrabida who commanded every scene she walked into, her talent has been a cornerstone of our local film and television industry.

Today, however, that powerful voice is quiet as she faces a difficult battle off-screen.

Since February 21, 2026, the veteran actress has been confined and bedridden at the National Kidney and Transplant Institute (NKTI). According to her daughter, Claudette Avelino-Tandoc, Ms. Odette is currently being treated for a combination of serious respiratory and systemic issues, including pneumonia, emphysema, and edema.

The situation took a critical turn recently when medical teams had to drain fluid from her right lung. While her spirit remains resilient, the physical toll is significant, and she remains under close medical supervision.

The family has shared that they are running out of funds. In a touching appeal shared via the Bar Boys: After School social media pages, Claudette reached out to the public, stating:

“Ms. Odette Khan Needs Our Help

Ms Odette Khan has been confined and bedridden here in National Kidney and Transplant Institute since Saturday, Feb.21.

She has Pneumonia, Emphysema, Edema and fluid was drained from her right lungs last Monday. Treatment is still ongoing, and hospital bill as of today, Feb.27, is now at PHP 211,000+ not including professional and readers fee, caregiving expenses and medicines are not included yet.

We are running out of funds. I am appealing to your kind hearts, as Mommy Odette’s child. She has served the film and television community with all her heart for over five decades. If she has touched you in any way during these years and you are capable and willing to donate, we would really appreciate it. Taos-pusong pasasalamat po in advance sa mga tutulong kay Mommy Odette.
