In celebration with International Women’s Day, new Darna Jane De Leon gave a tribute to former actresses who played the iconic role. Jane included Naneth Medved, Vilma Santos, Anjanette Agbayari, Sharon Cuneta, Regine Velasquez, Angel Locsin, Rosa Del Rosario, Marian Rivera, and Liza Soberano.
Jane posted the photos of each actresses with the following caption:
“I respect and salute all these women (and to all the Darnas before them) who became a symbol of a strong and independent Filipina. The voice of their generation who have been continuously doing their part as superheroes behind the costume through their individual achievements, efforts, and advocacies to help humanity and nature in general.
You are all and will always be an inspiration today and onwards 🌍🇵🇭❤️ #HappyInternationalWomensDay #WomenEmpowerment”
Some netizens thanked Jane for including the name of Liza while others were asking why Liza’s name was included when in fact she never played the role. Liza was supposed to be the next Darna but injured her finger that prevented her from doing the role. Jane was selected to take the place of Liza.
