Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano clarified that the photo posted where he and Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea was not meant to compare themselves to medical workers who are truly frontliners, but simply an effort to extend the message of medical personnels.
A photo was posted online showing Cayetano and Medialdea carrying a poster which reads “Together with doctors and frontliners, we went to work for you, so please stay home for us.”

Netizens reacted to the said photo and lambasted government officials for comparing themselves to the health workers.
“No, we’re not comparing ourselves to the frontliners. Hats off kami, malayo. Ang mga frontliners, every single second they’re risking their lives. Kaya nga kami, we are just extending the message, stay home,” Cayetano said.
“If we have to find creative ways to tell you stay home, even if ang kapalit ay kritisismo, that’s our job, e,” added Cayetano.
