Kapuso star Alden Richards condemned celebrity-shaming over insights and opinions on global issues specially this time of COVID-19 pandemic.
In an interview with GMA Network, Alden was asked on celebrities role during the COVID-19 pandemic. “What do you think is the role of celebrities during this crisis?”

To which alden answered “Siyempre, celebrities tayo, mayroon tayong following, mayroon tayong mga supporters. Parang, ang nakakatuwa kasi kapag may mga supporters ang isang celebrity like me, yung mga supporters ko if I shared a good campaign with good intentions, naka-follow sila eh. Kumbaga network yan eh. Parang it starts from you, goes down to your followers, the loved ones of your followers, etc etc”. Alden said that the influence was important specially nowthat access on social media was easy. He also shared that as a public figure and a celebrity, they have the obligation to be responsible in providing true information to the public.
“Kasi tingin ng iba, I’m not generalizing everyone, but siguro may ibang nakikita na parang, kapag nagpa-participate ang isang celebrity sa isang campaign against a global issue like now it’s COVID, parang hindi kami essential and I totally disagree to that. Every public personality is essential for the distribution of truthful information to the public and the public deserves true information. Parang dun lang sila nagre-rely eh. Parang dun nagre-rely yung public sa mga information na nakukuha nila. Kung paano sila mabubuhay everyday. They don’t deserve fake news. Us, Kami ang pwede naming maibigay is true information and parang yung presence and influence namin to raise awareness about certain issues na nangyayari sa paligid natin.” added by Alden.
