*Community Quarantine not lockdown

The distinction is important, as a lockdown restricts people from going outside their homes. The government then takes on the responsibility of providing all their basic needs by bringing relief goods to every home.
On the other hand, a community quarantine restricts people from leaving their cities. Life goes on as usual and citizens are free to go outside, go to work, and board public transportation within their respective cities.
Meanwhile, Bianca Gonzales releases a series of tweets explaining the importance of terminology in avoiding mass hysteria.
“Words matter because choice of words make us feel emotions. I appreciate the use of “community quarantine” rather than “lockdown”.”, her tweet begins.
“Emotions matter because we tend to make bad decisions when in fear or panicking, versus when our mind is calm and clear.”
“Would appreciate it if media outlets use “community quarantine” as the term in their headlines, rather than “lockdown”.”
We don't need to cause more panic with our use of words because as it is, grabe na ang panic ng tao.
Dahil andito na din ako, mention ko na din ang request to ask media outlets to not use a bloody red color sa "BREAKING NEWS" art cards kasi nakakadagdag panic din sa tao.

She explains further in a sub-tweet that the rise in coronavirus cases have already caused considerable panic in the country, and that the way news is being relayed to the media can have a massive impact in whether the panic subsides or grows.
