Sorsogon Governor Francis ‘Chiz’ Escudero expressed his concerns over the donation of relief goods in times of calamities.
In his wife kapuso star Heart Evangelista’s latest YouTube vlog, the couple heeded to the requests of their fans and followers to do another episode of ‘Adulting with Chiz’. In the video, Heart asked Chiz “let’s talk about like, with the last… with what happened, the typhoons that came. A lot of people started to donate… I heard you say you had certain concerns about donations and stuff… What is important about donating goods during calamities?”

To which Chiz answered “what’s important when you donate is to actually look at the people who are in need of donations. Most people, some people, simply to make them feel good, uhm put 5 kilos of rice, some pieces of canned goods, some instant mami, kape. They pack it, they give it away to a person whose house was flooded or whose house was inundated totally by flood or nasunugan.”
“But in the end of the day if you think about it from his or her perspective, meaning the victim’s family. They are currently in an evacuation center. Pano nila lulutuin yung limang kilong bigas? Paano nila iinitin yung…. mainit na tubig para sa kape, para sa noodle?”
“What they need immediately right after a typhoon would be a soup kitchen, a hot meal. That’s readily available right then and there. Otherwise, mostly what you see on TV is nag didistribute ng relief packs, papapicture kung sino man. As soon as the person returns to the evacuation center, he or she will just stare at it.” Added by Chiz.
