Eighteen years later and Rico Yan’s death continues to affect Claudine Barretto. The Kapamilya star posted a small tribute to Rico Yan on her Instagram account; a four-minute montage of pictures they took together.

However, some netizens believe that it is time for her to move on from his passing. One comment even went as far as to point out that Claudine had not been with Rico during his time of death.
“Sorry ha, pero kinda late na to keep on remembering and posting memories with Rico Yan. No offense meant din pero sobrang nakakaawa si Rico nung kinuha bangkay nya sa Palawan. We were just 2 days ahead na nandun din sa lugar na yun nung mangyari yun. But where were you Claudine nung mga panahon na yun? Dika naman nya kasama. Not sure but, were you in Subic nga ba with someone during that time?”
(Sorry, but it is too late to keep on remembering and posting memories with Rico Yan. No offense but Rico was so pitiful when his corpse was found in Palawan. We had been in the area 2 days before it happened. But where were you during those times? You were not with him. I’m not sure but were you in Subic with someone during that time?)
Claudine immediately replied and clarified what had been happening with them at the time.
“Pls get your facts straight. November of 2001 break na kami bit living in the same roof. Cant u still love someone you just broken up with?”
