Denise Laurel recalls being bullied due to her lips: “calling me duckie”

Actress Denise Laurel recalled the time when she was bullied when she was still young because of her lips.

On her Instagram account, Denise posted a throwback photo of her. The said photo was taken when she had her first holy communion. According to Denise, she was bullied because of her full lips and some kids called her ‘duckie, mojacko, arrow-lips’. Denise also shared that when she got in the swim team, people called her ‘baluga or charcoal’.

“First holy communion realnezzzz I still remember a lady from the photographers team kindly putting lipstick on me cause she said she liked my lips.. then some kids started making fun of me calling me duckie, mojacko, arrow-lips (Whch made zero sense lol cguro cause they’re pointy haha and when i drank water the pointy part would catch drops of water haha Bukie has the same point cute) petrie (from the movie land before time )”

“and when i got in the swim team people called me baluga or charcoal and that lasted for years even years before that incident haha.. i remember trying not to cry before this picture and wiping the lipstick off aww babyyyy haha kids can be mean but we can teach them better.. lol for a while there i had to learn how to talk and smile while folding my lips in till by Gods grace i embraced myself and stopped caring!”

“I let them spread their wings and run free!! Run freeee my lips!! When they got free issue Parin hahah cause i couldn’t get casted in some roles kasi distracting daw my features or it’s fake but carry lang cause what’s meant for u will always be yours and naging uso din haha.. I’m sharing this cause naalala ko lang this was ages ago not to fish for compliments ibut i thought of u!”

“I see when u guys comment about being bullied about many things..Sharing this to encourage u! there’s no such thing as normal.. the fake standard of beauty changes every couple of years, fashion can be fickle or repetitive but their standard has nothing to do with u! U are perfectly imperfect just as u are and made with so much thought and love! There’s only one u! What’s different about u is what makes u unique!”

“Embrace it! When u do no one can do anything about it and we teach them to embrace themselves and be kinder to themselves as well;) let’s create a cycle of compassion for self and others! i know a lot of u ladies can relate! I see u guys commenting about ur lips and being bullied for them.. it was all a test to reinforce ur appreciation for urself and bring us back to gratitude! enjoy them lipzz! Or ur height, shape! ILaNtAd nyo na! It’s ur one life! Their opinion can’t live ur life for u! I love seeing people unapologetically themselves! Go!” Denise wrote in the caption.
