DOJ issues subpoena for Senator Koko Pimentel for “quarantine breach”

The Department of Justice issued a subpoena for Sen. Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III for his alleged breach of quarantine protocol for showing up at Makati Medical Center despite experiencing COVID-19 symptoms.

Pimentel accompanied his then pregnant wife at the Makati Medical Center despite the symptoms, but the Senator maintained that he was only informed that he had tested positive for COVID-19 when he was already in the already in the hospital and that he immediately left after being informed of his results.

Former dean of the University of Makati School of Law Rico Quicho filed a complaint against Pimentel for allegedly violating Republic Act No. 11332.

On Facebook, Quicho posted the following:

“Just received an Order from the DOJ to appear within 5 days from lifting of ECQ and to file hard copy of Complaint vs #kokopimentel together with Annexes and to swear under oath. Tentative PI is on May 20, 2020. May the odds be with us.”
