Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque responded to Coco Martin’s statement against the government for allowing the Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGO) operation to resume while shutting down the operations of ABS-CBN.
“Pasensya na po. galit na galit sobra po ako. Ano po ba uunahin natin? Tanggalin ang kompanya na tumutulong sa ating kapwa. Sa lahat ng mga Pilipino. O yung sugal na pinapasok sa atin bansa. Buti pa yung POGO di ba ipinaglalaban nyo.” said Coco.

Roque said the actor was wrong to compare the ABS-CBN shutdown with the Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGO) operations.

“[H]indi tama yung comparison between ABS-CBN at mga POGO. Unlike ‘yung broadcast companies, wala pong probisyon sa Saligang Batas kung sino pu-pwedeng magbigay ng authority para mag-operate ang POGO. Ang POGO po, tanging PAGCOR lang ang pwedeng magbigay ng desisyon kung sila’y pwedeng mag-operate. Samantalang ang broadcast company po, tanging Kongreso lang po ang may ganyang kapangyarihan.”
